After a strong performance in the qualifying Mario Farnbacher started from second position into the race. Thanks to a perfect start, the German was able to take over the lead as well as the command over the race right away. However, the 24-year-old was not on the lucky side of life and had to get along with a couple of setbacks. Despite a strong hunt through the field it wasn’t enough for a podium finish with the Lexus RC F GT3. He finally came in on fourth position.
Mario Farnbacher had a great start into the race and took over the lead already in the initial lap. The set-up of the car was quite good and in the course of the race he was able to extend his lead on the rest of the field. Still leading the race he handed over the car to his brother Dominik. However, despite a great drive he couldn’t defend the top position after the pit-stop and dropped back to third rank in the overall classification.
For the final stint Mario Farnbacher took over the wheel again and tried everything to improve to third place again and just when the German wanted to start his attack he received a stop-and-go penalty, dropping back to fifth place again. Nevertheless, with a superb effort he managed to improve again and finally finished on fourth position.
“It was a tough race. Each time we were on the top, we struggled, dropped back again and had to start with another hunt through the field”, Mario Farnbacher took a look back and added. “We did the best we could, thanks to the team for a great job. In the end we only finished in fourth position overall but we catched the victory in the SPX class.”
There is hardly time to take a deep breath after the tough race for the German. The next race for Mario Farnbacher takes place already from 22nd to 23rd July in the USA. In the Lime Rock Park in Lakeville, the youngster from Germany is at the wheel for Alex Job Racing again, fighting for the title in the American SportsCar Championship.
