About me

Motorsport is in Mario’s blood – and just like his father and brother, he is living his passion.

Already at the age of six, he appeared at the karting tracks, and it didn’t take long for him to claim the first successes. Competing in the Bambini Class, he celebrated victories and titles in Bavaria before he also left a remaining impression in the Junior Classes in 2005.

With ambition and discipline, the highly talented race driver made his way up, and over the years, he proved to be a serious and tough rival for his opponents. The Franconian proved his skills in various racing series – including the ADAC GT Masters, the Nürburgring Endurance Series (formerly VLN) and the International GT Open.

In 2014, he competed in America, where he was to celebrate his greatest sporting triumphs in the years that ensued. Following the season with Alex Job Racing and Porsche in the TUDOR United SportsCar Championship, he switched to Mercedes-AMG in 2017. Together with Riley Motorsport, Mario celebrated his first title in the Michelin Endurance Cup.

With Acura, more championship titles rolled in from 2018 onwards. After starting out with a few selected races, the Ansbach native established himself as a regular driver in the IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship in 2019. What then followed were two successful years with Meyer Shank Racing, in which Mario was crowned champion twice in the GTD class.

In 2022, he won the title in the ProAm class in the GT World Challenge America together with Racers Edge Motorsports. The following year, he and the team celebrated the runner-up title in the Pro category. The year 2024 marked Mario’s return to Heart of Racing, where he drove an Aston Martin Vantage GT3 in the IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship.

2025 will see Farnbacher teamed up with Misha Goikhberg behind the wheel of Forte Racing’s GTD Lamborghini Huracan GT3 EVO2 for a full season in the IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship.
