Class victory in the Nürburgring 24h

Hopes fulfilled: Mario Farnbacher has achieved his goal of reaching the Top 15 after his second participation in the Nürburgring 24h. In a nerve-racking race, dominated by difficult conditions, Farnbacher brought home a fifteenth place and captured the victory in the highly competitive SP7 class.

“Many thanks go to the Black Falcon Team for their incredible job. It’s a great feeling seeing the chequered flag after a 24-hour-race”, said a happy Farnbacher. The Franconian and his teammates Arturo Devigus, Alex Toril and Andreas Weishaupt look back on a thrilling fight for the class victory.

From 40th grid position, the quartet steadily worked its way forwards. Even an intermittent hailstorm, which interrupted the race, couldn’t stop the team’s powerful performance. Farnbacher and his colleagues mastered the difficult circumstances with flying colours and clinched the well-deserved win in the SP7 class.

After the 24-hour race, Farnbacher has time for a short trip home to Lichtenau before travelling on to Detroit. From 3rd – 4th June, the U.S. metropolis is venue for the next round of the American sports car championship. The 24-year-old is particularly looking forward to this race in the U.S. city of Detroit, because he has happy memories of the downtown street circuit. “I love this raceway. We always performed well here and even won last year”, the Porsche pilot recalls.It’s now important Mario Farnbacher continues the previous races’ upward trend on the “Belle Isle Circuit”.

After the first win of the season in Laguna Seca, the 24-year-old ranks second in the standings and is only a few points behind the frontrunners. The race starts on Saturday at 12.40 (local time) with live coverage on www.imsa.com.
