Podium success in the USCC

Mario Farnbacher is still on a winning track: After the victory at the Sebring 12 hours race in March, the German from Lichtenau celebrates his next podium success in the United Sportscar Championship (Tudor USCC). At the third round of the 2015 season the 22-yearl-old eked out a third place in the fiercely contested GTD-Class.

Mario Farnbacher and the complete squad of Alex Job Racing had boundless joy after the chequered flag was out, because no one of the team expected a podium finish before the start of the race. “The racing weekend started truly difficult and poor for us”, Farnbacher takes a look back. “Neither the practice sessions nor the qualifying didn’t work out the way we wanted. Our car received a number of updates, which we first had to get used to.”

However, it all turned positive for Mario Farnbacher at the day of the race. “We went a new and different way with the setup for the Porsche in the warm-up session and fortunately it was the right decision”, said the German. During the race the Bavarian and his team mate Ian James stood flawless and managed a hunt through the field. After 103 laps the duo at the wheel of the Porsche 911 GT America crossed the finish line on third position.

After the strong performance in the race on the Californian circuit Mario Farnbacher and Ian James rejoiced about a reasonable number of championship points for their credit. Due to the successful race the well attuned duo made good progress in the driver standings of the series. “Concerning the championship it was a very important result. I feel quite confident that we can tie to the great performance also in the next races”, explains Farnbacher.

Next stage for the 22-year-old is scheduled end of May in Detroit. The street circuit called “Belle Isle” in the U.S. State Michigan belongs to the favourite race tracks of the German driver. Last year, finishing on second rank, Mario Farnbacher celebrated one of his biggest successes in the 2014 season.
