New chance in Laguna Seca

Although Sebring didn’t produce the hoped-for top result, Mario Farnbacher can look forward to a new challenge: During the Florida 12-hour-race programme, Honda announced the 26-year-old will race in the Intercontinental GT Challenge. Late March sees the Franconian at the wheel of the NSX GT3 for the “California 8 Hours” in Laguna Seca.

„I’m really proud of this opportunity and after my races in the IMSA Series, it’ll be a great honour to represent the brand in such a highly competitive GT3 Series”, says Mario Farnbacher. He’ll be accompanied by the two very experienced stalwarts Renger van der Zande and Bertrand Baguette.

Farnbacher’s debut in the unofficial “GT3 World Championship” helps him forget the Sebring 12 Hours set-back. Instead of celebrating a podium win, the two-time Sebring winner could only finish seventh. Initially the team was right in the middle of the fight for the podium, but a drive-through penalty due to a failed last pit stop destroyed all hopes of a Top-3 finish.
