Mario Farnbacher returns behind the wheel of the 3GT Racing Lexus in the IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship. The German drives the RC F GT3 together with Jack Hawksworth for the forthcoming race at Lime Rock Park.
Farnbacher was in action for 3GT Racing at Watkins Glen just a couple of weeks ago. Just as in upstate New York, the 26-year-old races the #15 Lexus this time out, too. Brit Jack Hawksworth partners Farnbacher once again, after the pair just missed out on a podium and finished fourth at the Sahlen’s 6 Hours of the Glen last time out.
“I’m really excited to race with the 3GT Racing crew again,” said Farnbacher. “Thanks to the team for giving me this opportunity. Lime Rock is the shortest track on the calendar, which makes it extra special. There’s always something going on on the track, and overtaking is very difficult. This will make our pit stops and choosing the right strategy particularly important.”
This isn´t Farnbacher’s first time at Lime Rock Park: the German driver also raced there in 2015 and 2016, but not in a Lexus. “I think the track should suit the car,” he explained. “Lexus has done well here in the past, so I am confident ahead of the race. I have never driven the RC F GT3 here myself, which makes me all the more excited about the upcoming weekend.”
The Northeast Grand Prix takes place on 20 and 21 July. The race begins on Saturday 21 July at 3:10 pm local time (9:10 pm German time). You can follow qualifying and the race on the official live stream.
