Return to the Nürburgring

On 23rd September, Mario Farnbacher from Ansbach returns to a very special venue. After a prolonged absence, he will be at the start of the seventh VLN race on the Nürburgring Nordschleife again. This time he’s behind the wheel of the Mercedes-AMG GT3 for the Haribo Racing Team.

Together with the former DTM driver Daniel Juncadella and TV presenter Lance David Arnold, Mario Farnbacher will be taking part in the seventh race of the VLN Langstreckenmeisterschaft. Last year saw the 25-year-old celebrating the first victory with a Japanese sports car in the second to last race on the Nürburgring and now he will be returning to the scene of success.

“I’m absolutely delighted to be able to drive in the VLN again”, said the happy Bavarian. “Returning at long last to this very unique track, is an incredible feeling. However hard you try, you can’t forget the Nordschleife.”

Mario Farnbacher is driving the race for a team, with whom he is already familiar. He was at the start for Haribo Racing in October 2013 in the Eifel and now nearly four years later, he’s back again with the friendly and likeable team. This time, they won’t be driving the well-known Porsche 911 GT3 Cup, but will be behind the wheel of the Mercedes-AMG GT3, a car the Nordschleife specialist knows very well from the American endurance championship.

“I like the Mercedes and it handles very well. Races with it in the US were full of variety”, says Farnbacher. “It will be exciting to see how the GT3 car reacts on this very special circuit. If all goes well and we can achieve a good result, perhaps I can drive with the team in next year’s 24H Nürburgring.”

The VLN season’s seventh race begins on Saturday 23rd September. The race can be viewed live at 12:00 on the official website.
