Guest start at Pirelli World Challenge

Mario Farnbacher is driving for the first time at the Pirelli World Challenge season’s final scheduled for 31 August to 2 September in Watkins Glen. He takes the wheel of an Acura NSX GT3 and the weekend also marks the car’s debut in the 2018 race season.

“It’s a fantastic opportunity for me to present myself in one of the best GT championships. There are a lot of top drivers in excellent cars at the Pirelli World Challenge and I’d like to say a big thank you to Acura and the team for making my appearance possible”, said an enthusiastic Farnbacher.

The 26-year-old will be behind the wheel of the HART squad’s Acura #93 at the famous Watkins Glen circuit. Farnbacher gained a lot of experience with the fast car in the IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship. However the final of the Pirelli World Challenge involves a pair of 50-minute Sprint races. “Both will provide me with an interesting change and mean I’ll be competing in two Sprint races instead of just one long run. I’ve seldom had a car especially set up for me, so I’m even more excited about the weekend”, the motorsport racer explained, with a view to the upcoming assignments.

Objective of the mission is to demonstrate the car’s potential and Mario Farnbacher feels very confident about the NSX’s performance capacity: “I know the car from the IMSA Series and I know what it’s capable of. It’ll be a huge challenge to prove its worth in these new circumstances, but I can hardly wait.”

Saturday’s race starts at 13:50 local time (19:50 German time) and the light for Sunday’s race jumps to green at 13:15 (19:15 German time). Both races will be streamed live on the official website.
