Podium result at Virginia International Raceway

For the second time this season, Mario Farnbacher was behind the wheel of the Acura NSX GT3 together with Katherine Legge. It was a tough fight on the Virginia International Raceway, but the Meyer Shank Racing duo raced to third place.

“We had a difficult weekend”, concluded Mario Farnbacher. “Changes on the track during the weekend didn’t suit the car and we had to battle with balance issues. However, we fought through the entire race and finishing third was an excellent result.”

Eighth position in qualifying wasn’t the best place to begin the race, but the 26-year-old start driver used his stint to improve his position and overtake his team colleague’s title rivals. Shortly after the race start, he clinched the decisive overtaking manoeuvre against the Lamborghini and handed the car over in sixth position.

Just before the race ended, it was showdown time yet again. Teammate Legge’s fantastic performance had pushed her to second position and hot on the leader’s heels, but her furious attack was unsuccessful and she was caught on the last lap by a Porsche and ultimately saw the chequered flag in third place.

“It was my job this weekend to help Katherine close the gap to the top of the championship. And thanks to a flawless achievement by the whole team, we’ve been able to do just that. I’m happy to have supported the crew in the fight for the trophy and Katherine now has a good chance of winning the trophy in the remaining two races.”
