Mario Farnbacher debuts in the Acura NSX GT3

Winning the North American Endurance Cup title meant fulfilling Mario Farnbacher’s big dream of an endurance success in the US. In 2018, the young German from Ansbach will once again compete in the three most important long-distance races in the USA – but with a new team and another car.

For Mario Farnbacher, the new year will begin in January 2018 together with Michael Shank Racing in the GTD class. The traditional racing team from the US has been active in endurance sport for over ten years and has already celebrated numerous successes. However the 25-year-old will be facing a new team and also an unfamiliar car. Having driven a Mercedes-AMG GT3 at the beginning of 2017 for the first time, now, at the beginning of the 2018 season, the Acura NSX GT3 awaits him – also for the first time.

After the season’s opener at the Daytona 24 Hours, the Bavarian goes directly to the Sebring International Raceway, where the talented driver has already won several times. The last run is the big season finale, the Petit Le Mans.

“The new year brings a very special challenge”, says Mario Farnbacher focusing on the Daytona 24 Hours. “The Acura will be new territory for me, but I know the tracks very well. I feel confident about the start in Daytona and think that together with Michael Shank Racing, I can fight again for the lead.”

The endurance classic on the Daytona International Speedway is scheduled for 27th – 28th January.
