On the hunt for points in Virginia

The next stop on the IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship calendar is Virginia International Raceway. Together with teammate Matt McMurry and Meyer Shank Racing, Mario Farnbacher is hoping to build on his successful results so far this season.

“VIR is always a great place to race,” said the Acura driver. “It is one of the most technically challenging circuits in North America and one of the highlights of the season for us drivers. We will be looking to secure as many points as possible to strengthen our position in the table.”

Farnbacher and McMurry are engaged in a close battle in the GTD championship. The Acura pair are fourth in the table with 83 points, but only four points behind the championship-leading Lexus driver Jack Hawksworth.

Mario Farnbacher has enjoyed success at Virginia International Raceway on multiple occasions in the past. The 28-year-old finished on the podium in both 2018 and 2019, but so far victory at the track near Richmond has eluded him.

The race begins at 20:00 (CEST) on Saturday evening and will be broadcast live on the IMSA website.
